TIME Magazine has just released its list of the World's 50 Greatest Places of 2022.
Istanbul ‘’the most enchanting city in Turkey’’ has been selected as one of the 50 greatest places in 2022 by Time Magazine.
This year's list, which includes 50 cities from 36 different nations, focused on successful and sustainable economic recovery after the pandemics.
On the list were also Toronto, Miami, Bogota, Marseille, Nairobi, Seoul, the region of North Pole, and Dolni Morava.
First Time A Magazine Used Türkiye Instead of Turkey
"A classic rebirth" was the title of the section describing Istanbul in the magazine. "Istanbul, the most magical city in Turkey, where the name of the country began to be used in Turkish, is experiencing a Renaissance of its own."
The magazine stated that Galataport, which opened in Karaköy, is the world's first cruise port with an underground passenger terminal. The terminal is located in Istanbul's famed Karaköy area and is the product of a $1.7 billion harborside investment. Passenger services are hidden underneath a waterfront promenade with stores and restaurants. MSC Fantasia, Viking Sky, Seabourn Encore, and Seven Seas Explorer are just a few of the cruise ships that leave from or arrive at the new port. Departures will begin in September at this port.
Time Magazine also stated that Istanbul Modern, the city's first museum of modern art, will return to its original location designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano in Karaköy. Ataturk Cultural Center (AKM) will resume operations for the first time after its old building was closed and demolished in 2008. Concert halls, theaters, a gallery, and a library can all be found in the redesigned area.
